Here in Arizona it’s still as hot blazes but that doesn’t mean I’m about to miss out on all of the fall goodness like pumpkins, squash and Halloween.
Can I tell you how much I love Halloween. The decorations, treats, candy, costumes, spooky movies, scary stories. Halloween really is one of my favorite holidays. I cannot wait until it’s time to bust out those Halloween goodies and let the fun begin.
The hardest part of Halloween? Not going overboard on spending. It is so easy to spend a lot of money on all of the stuff you see in the stores and online. According to Forbes, Americans spent over 8 billion dollars on Halloween in 2016.
Here are 5 easy and simple ways to save on Halloween this season without ruining your budget.
1. Hit up the dollar store
Every year the dollar store come out with some pretty fun Halloween stuff for only a dollar. From plates to decorations you can find a lot of Halloween goodies for a dollar. 2. Host a costume swap
Save on those costumes that only get used once or twice a year by having a costume swap. Have family members or neighbors gather up last years costumes then everybody switch. Chances are someone is going to have what you need to get your child decked out for trick-or-treating.
3. Shop those yard sales
Yard sales have a ton of old things that can be used as decorations or costume ideas. Old button up shirts and jeans can be used to make scarecrows. Old funiture can be used to set the theme for a haunted house. Vintage clothes make an instant time period costume. Go a step farther and rip the close a little and paint your face to look like a zombie for an scary blast from the past.
4. Look to Craigslist and Ebay
